San Xie- 3 Days 2 Nights tour.
Day 2

The previous night was spent at the cruise.
For me, I prefer sleeping and spending my night over at the cruise , rather than in the hostel.
At least ,I can get to enjoy the scenery from my windows in the room on the cruise at any moment.
Soft oldies music was played at the cruise as a wake up the guests onboard, rather new to me.
At first, I though I forget to switch off the TV before yankhee and I tune in.
The breakfast at cruise was completely different from what we have in Singapore.
The locals have porridge, noodles, rice cake and etc for breakfast, unless us.
We have prawn noodles, laska, fried carrot cake back in Singapore.
Thinking of that, I am hungry!

After our breakfast, we took a ferry to Shennong Stream of the Three Gorges.

The journey to Shennong

The five of us

The scenery from the ferry on the journey to Shennong

You Cai Hua, most of the locals grew it on their plotted land and use it as cooking oil after all the necessary process.

Me with the tour guide

With XiuJin

With Lizhen

Reaching Shennong soon..

The bridge

Spot the fisherman on the boat

The beautiful lake

I only spot the roof of the house on the cruise.

Entering into Shennong....

For your information, Shennong River is a must to visit national tour spot, it involves Bigthree Gorge's grandness.
It composed of Shennong Gorge, Mianzhu Gorge, Yingwu Gorge and longchang Gorge.
Leaving the ferry and change to the wooden flat boat

Boarding the boat

The local boat tracker

I took this picture on my way walking to the boat.
I found it heart-warming, I like the way the grandfather carry the baby!
In Singapore, most of the parents use pram to push their children.
I don't think Singaporean will carry their baby this way, they are more conscious about safety.
Kids are just too precious to Singaporeans.

The old school building

The local selling items along the path.
We sat in the old wooden flat boat to view and admire the peak of the moutains and the surrounding.
The scenery was awesome, with the tour guide on boat explaining to us!
I kept taking the pictures non-stop!
I love nature!!
From what I heard from the tour guide, the local villagers have to climb all the way up to the moutain to purchase salt and sugar.
Adding on, the locals couples enter into a marriage by match-making, which is part of their culture. They could not date freely like us.
I also get to understand that the boat is towed up the stream by the naked boat tracker in the past, a unique spectacle in ten thousand years ago.
But this time round, our boat are towing up the stream are by the boat tracker who wears shorts and in slippers.
The weather was rather cold, so I bet the water in the lake will be extremely cold.
Adding on, the water running in the lake was crystal blue.
On the boat

Spot one of the local villagers
Trees on the cliffs.

Our opposite boat.

Construction of the bridge

The boat tracker towing the boat up the stream.
In my point of view, I felt very gulity to see them using their full strength and energy to tow the boat while we just sit in the boat very relaxing and watch them doing the job.

Our tour guide with us on the boat

The stream
When we are on the way back to land, the tour guide taugh us how to sing their traditional songs.
It was pretty fun to sing along as she leads us!
I also get to understand that it was compulsory for them to learn how to sing from young and it was grandmother taught them.
Spot the boat tracker rowing back and returning to their home.
On the way to our cruise

I saw the local children beside us playing with the tiny furnitures and table.
They are lively and keep running around the ferry .
One of the children fell down and didn't cry.
I think the local children are brave and stronger than Singapore Children.
In my opinion, I felt that Singapore children are over-protected by their parents and precious to them.
Back to the Cruise

The wind was extremely windy.
Look at my hair, it is way too messy!

The old folks are busy snapping pictures to keep as memories.
The beautiful moutains :

XiuJin and I

The biggest rat hole

The old folks are still playing mahjong outdoor despite the cold wind blowing.

The most beautiful scenery I ever seen in my life :

Houses on the peak of the moutains

Take a bus ride to San Xie after alighting from the cruise at the harbour

Making our way there
The sceneries
Our destination:
After climbing up about 300 flights of steps or even more , we finally reached the top and bian di miao as well.
Both of my legs turned wobbly while climbing up.
So not to mentioned that by the time I reached the top, I was totally exhausted and in need to replenish water.
I didn't bring along water bottle, but fortunately Lizhen did bring along her bottle and share with us.

In front of Bian di miao
Most of the tourist rest and have refreshment after climbing the stairs.

Chinese famous historical characters.
It was interesting to listen to the tour guide' explaination although I don't know how the tour guide know those story before hand since this has been 100 century ago.

Closer look
Another view

Chinese words written on the pillar

The entrance

I also spot the pamelo trees during the tour. In Singapore, we have pamelo only during mooncake festive and it is hardly to see them plant in Singapore.
Chinese famous historical characters.

Next, the suspended Coffin .
As what I have learnt, the dead body is usually buried under the soil. After 10 years, the remains will be digged it out and transfer to the suspended Coffin. The suspended coffin is a wooden box make of tree species. Every suspended coffin has the individual series number of the tree.

Pictures found on the wall in the room same as the suspended coffin

Chinese character craved on the stone.

The shop selling their local products, wood combs.
The prices of the combs have very wide range, depends on the the types of wood used.

Wood Combs.

The antique chair found in the shop

More pieces of antiques found

Discovering more...
From this trip, I get to recognise and understand the oldest way of writing some chinese characters ( fan ti zhi ) as we are learning jian ti zhi currently.

Shu ( refer to book)

Ren ( refer to people)

Local trees, together with the label found

The old buildings found on the way down to the stairs

The toliet signs

The rare opportunity that I get to see the bambo trees , China panda's favourite foods!

Their local police station

The design of the window .
I love the unique design of the window.

Walking down the stairs are much more easier than climbing up the stairs.
Of course, it was less tiring too.

Finally reached.

Pay 50 yuan and they will carry and lift you all the way up the bian di miao.

The stalls along the street

Their traditional way of weighting the sweet potatotes.
In Singapore, most of the sellers are using electronic weighing machine.

Their local way of living.
Second day has been great and it allowed me to expose to the nature. Furthermore, I have a deeper and greater understanding of their cultures. Eating at the street stall is like having meal at the coffeshop in Singapore.

The quote of the day:

Whenever you find you are on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhornne Clemens] (1835-1910)
